Onze zoektocht heeft geleid tot in Brindisi. Hieronder volgt een verslagje. Gezien de kennelijke internationale contacten van onze broer hebben we het ook in het Engels vertaald, dit om de kans hem te vinden te vergroten.

Anouk en ik hadden een ontmoeting met Marcus geregeld. Iemand in Belgie, waar Nick(of Nicks look alike) laatst gesignaleerd is, had ons verteld dat Nick ging helpen bij de restauratie van een gebouw. Marcus is inderdaad met een restauratie bezig maar dit is zijn eigen kasteeltje in Taranto. Hij heeft niets van Nick gezien of gehoord. Terwijl de vriendelijke Donato op onze auto past heeft Marcus ons toch nog het ontzettend pittoreske, gelukkig nog niet toeristische, Taranto laten zien. Dit deel van Italie is mediterraan, veel palmen. Hadden we eigenlijk niet verwacht. Hij gaf ons nog wat tips hoe ons te gedragen in het verkeer. Alles wat achter je zit, zoekt het maar uit en natuurlijk vooral veel toeteren. Terwijl we een pizza aan het eten zijn in een restauant bij de haven (advies van Donato) zien we een persoon de veerboot oprennen die wel erg veel op Nick lijkt. Chaotisch proberen we de ober duidelijk te maken dat we wegmoeten, de pizza's zijn nog niet op. We rekenen haastig af en rennen naar buiten richting veerboot. We kunnen nog net de achtersteven van de vertrekkende boot zien. Te laat..... 

Anouk and i met Marcus. Someone in Belgium told us that Nick was going to him to help restaure a building. Marcus now tells us he is indeed restauring his beautiful castle in Taranto. However he hasn´t seen Nick yet. Marcus showed us around in Taranto. Beautiful picturesque streets, luckely not spoiled by tourists. We parked our car on a square and Donato kept an eye on our car. Marcus took us to a hostel and bargained for a lower price. So nice to see how Italian people bargain. Also he gave us a few tips to behave in Italien traffic.  Everything that happends behind you, is in the past, don't mind it! It' s their problem. Just move forward. and of cours honk your horn often.
Later that night our new friend Donato gave us directions to a nice place to have a pizza. I think i make a better pizza (this is the attitude of a Dutch girl) but the ambiance was great. We wouldn´t want to miss this experience for the world. The south of Italy is beatiful, lots of palm trees, a realy Mediterranean atmosphere. We didn't expect that. Outside the traffic the people are very friendly. To bad we couldn´t find Nick. Please contact us if you can fill in the gaps of his life.
